We offer a variety of general dental treatments to maintain your oral health, including examinations, fillings, dental extractions and root canal treatments.
To maintain your dental health and oral hygiene, it is important to regularly attend for a check-up with your dentist.
Our team of experienced professionals can help put together a treatment plan that is catered towards maximising your oral health. This is also an opportunity for you to express any dental complaints or concerns so that we can tailor your treatment plan in order to meet your goals and expectations.
Our friendly team will be on hand to explain our findings to you as well as your treatment options. We offer various payment methods to help spread the cost, including 0% finance plans.
We pride ourselves on our aesthetic approach to dentistry and we only provide our patients with tooth-coloured (composite) fillings – no unsightly silver (amalgam) fillings!
A dental filling is a method used to restore a tooth that has been damaged by decay or fracture. By placing a filling, the tooth can be restored back to its normal function and shape.
No one likes to visit the dentist to be told they need a filling! But rest assured, our dentists will ensure that your appointments are as pain free and stress free as possible.
Visiting the hygienist regularly plays an important part in maintaining your oral health. A hygienist can assess, treat and prevent gum disease as well as demonstrating the correct home care to help keep your teeth and gums healthy.
During your appointment, your hygienist will professionally clean your teeth by removing plaque, tartar and stains. You will also be given tailored advice on how to clean your teeth at home, as well any product recommendations that may be suited to your needs.
The hygienist will recommend how often to return for treatment so that they can keep track of your oral health and keep your teeth looking bright, shiny and healthy!
Invisalign is a quick and painless way to straighten your teeth, using a series of custom-made, removable and virtually undetectable aligners.
The aligners are changed weekly. Each aligner is slightly different, moving your teeth gradually into the desired position.
Our Invisalign expert, Dr Andrew was one of the first Invisalign providers in the country and has a huge amount of experience treating a variety of Invisalign cases, all with fantastic outcomes, and some very happy patients!
We also provide a free course of teeth whitening once your Invisalign treatment is complete, making your now perfectly straight teeth sparkle!
Our Invisalign consultations are free of charge and include a full-mouth scan and simulation of how your teeth could look after straightening with Invisalign!
Dental implants can be used to replace missing teeth. Strong, durable and natural in appearance, implants are an excellent fixed alternative to removable dentures.
An implant is a titanium screw that is placed into the jawbone, acting just like a tooth root, and allowed to fuse with the bone over the span of a few months. After this time, the implant can then be used to hold a replacement crown or bridge.
An implant is placed under local anaesthetic, and the length of the procedure will depend on how many implants you’re having placed. It is possible to have several implants placed in the same procedure. If you are nervous, you can opt to have IV conscious sedation for your implant placement.
How well you look after your implants will have the biggest impact on how long they will last, but you can expect them to last for many years.
To achieve a bright white smile, why not consider teeth whitening? Here at A and L, we offer a safe and effective way of whitening your teeth.
Teeth whitening is the process of bleaching the teeth to make them lighter, and it is possible to lighten them by several shades.
The dentist will first carry out an initial consultation, assessing your teeth structures and suitability for whitening. They will then take a set of dental impressions to be sent to the laboratory. The dental technician will construct a set of custom-made, soft, clear rubber trays for you to wear at home.
You will then be given instructions on how to apply your whitening solution to the trays regularly over a period of ten days to two weeks. This enables you to gradually whiten your teeth to your desired shade whilst avoiding the long-term sensitivity that can occur with alternative methods such as laser whitening.
Our whitening solution is prescription strength and can be worn for a period of 2-4 hours or even overnight. Once you have completed your course of whitening, you may purchase additional syringes of solution from us, and top up your whitening every 6-9 months for a couple of hours to bring them back to your desired shade.
Dental crowns are restorations that protect damaged, cracked or broken-down teeth. A crown strengthens your existing damaged tooth to preserve its functionality. Dental crowns are also commonly known as caps because a crown sits over your existing tooth covering the entire outer surface.
Dental veneers are custom-designed shells of tooth-like ceramic material that, when applied over the surface of a tooth, can cover worn tooth enamel, uneven tooth alignment, spacing, and chips or cracks. Even better, the translucent ceramic quality of today’s veneers provides a more natural look than what’s been available in the past.
Dental bridges can be used to replace one or more missing teeth by using the neighbouring teeth to act as an ‘anchor’ to close the gap. The anchoring teeth are called abutments, and the ‘false’ teeth in-between are called pontics.
To prepare a tooth for a crown, veneer or bridge, the outside structure of a tooth must be trimmed away and carefully prepared ready for a set of dental impressions. These impressions are sent off to a dental lab, where the technician will design and construct your crown, bridge or veneer from porcelain and/or zirconium. These can then be fixed in the mouth using dental cement.
We offer a unique service at A and L where we can provide you with porcelain crowns in a single visit, within approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
We use a system called CEREC, which stands for CERamic REConstruction, and uses 3D imaging and software to design your custom-made tooth. No messy impressions, temporary crowns or waiting for two weeks for the lab technician to make your crown.
We prepare the tooth for the crown, then take several images of the preparation using a sophistated intra-oral camera. A porcelain block is then placed in the milling unit, and the software is able to communicate with the milling unit to construct your crown.
We use high quality materials enabling us to match your natural tooth colour and also cementing your crown with ease, all in one appointment.
The CEREC process not only makes full crowns, it can also design partial crowns, also known as onlays or inlays, which are perfect if you are looking to replace existing large silver fillings, for a more aesthetic result.
